For a future GIZ funded project in Laos, GITEC-IGIP GmbH is looking for an international Team Leader with experience in projects related to agricultural development in the private sector, climate change mitigation and adaptation approaches, advising political institutions on MSME promotion, between others. Requirements
- University degree (‘master’s or equivalent) in Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship or Innovation
- 10 years of professional experience in private sector development within the agricultural sector of which 12 months in the last 5 years
- 7 years of professional experience in climate change mitigation and adaptation approaches for the private sector of which 12 months in the past 5 years
- 4 years of management experience in projects, companies or other organisations with disciplinary leadership responsibility for 5 people
- A total of 5 years of professional experience in two countries outside Laos
- 3 years of professional experience in South-eastern Asia (in accordance with UN DESA Statistics Division) (6 out of 10 points), of which one year in Lao PDR (4 out of 10 points)
- 6 years of experience working in development cooperation projects
- 3 years of experience advising political institutions on MSME promotion
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Oversee contractor work packages
- Design, implement, and monitor capacity development for local partners
- Incorporate cross-cutting themes (gender equality, environmental sustainability, climate change)
- Manage financial planning and fund usage
- Prepare and host policy dialogues with GIZ
- Manage staff and assignments

About the project:
The primary goal of the CliPAD project is to reduce emissions from land use change and forestry in northern Laos by 11.7 million tons of CO2 while improving the livelihoods of local communities. The project focuses on strengthening governance and planning for low-emission, climate-resilient agriculture, integrating smallholders and agri-MSMEs into sustainable value chains, and enhancing private sector participation. By supporting deforestation-free agricultural practices and promoting sustainable forest management, the project aims to mitigate climate change impacts and foster economic growth in Lao PDR.
